Check engine and warning lights
A check engine light means the car's computer has logged a fault. The shop reads the code with up-to-date diagnostic equipment, then tests the part or circuit behind it, so you replace what's actually broken instead of guessing from the code alone. Oil pressure lights need attention right away, and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS) warnings that won't clear are diagnosed too.
